We have our Azure AD and API setup for 2019 MIPS.
Does anyone know of apps that can be used by patients to take advantage of the Patient Access API?
We're giving generic documentation to patients, but I would like to use this for myself and learn more about what it can do and what apps are available.
Thanks,
Wade
There are no apps available so far. Documentation says that customers can contract with app vendors to create apps. I have heard that there are a few customers who are working with vendors, but there is nothing in production right now.
Wade,
We're a little behind you when it comes to the implementation of Azure AD and the associated API setup. Would you mind posting/sharing your "generic documentation" with me? Specifically I'm looking for a letter that I can give to our patients concerning the API aspect.
If you are looking for an app (chatbot actually) that alerts patients when they are due for preventive care (annual, diabetes check, etc) and helps them self-schedule directly in Centricity, please contact success@simplifimed.com. Here is the link showing the product in action: https://youtu.be/955AHTbhzf4
Sure, shoot me an email at wlanham at wvneuro dot com and I'll send you what we're using. A lot of our patients won't give us either email address, either because they don't have one (true for a lot of our patients, I'm sure) or because they're reluctant to give us their email address due to concerns about spamming. Our handout/letter is a combined "About Email" with information about why we need their email address, information about our portal, and the patient API.
Thanks,
Wade
Does anyone know once azure AD get setup, will CPS still authenticate locally?
You must use Active Directory integrated authentication, and it does still appear to authenticate locally. I think the Azure AD integration is for one account used for API, some not-yet-created new features, and possibly EPCS. It has no apparent use today - for our practice anyway.
Thanks,
Wade
Hi Wade, were you able to figured out how to apply the signed CA certificate into jboss?
I believe Apple Health is an example of a third-party vendor : https://www.cnbc.com/2018/07/17/how-to-get-medical-history-on-your-iphone.html
I used the "Centricity Patient Access Guide", page 18 to 26 to load the cert on Jboss
I pulled up the health app on my phone and we are not listed there. There are three providers in town listed (sort of) and they are Labcorp, Quest, and a Vascular doctor who uses Cerner. I say "sort of" because the one refers you to a patient portal to login which is not the intent of all of this.
I wonder how one goes about getting connected with Apple Health. I suppose we will start seeing more of this stuff after October 1. There is probably big money to be made so it is no surprise that Apple would want a piece of the action. They are in a good position to strike, and so is Google as the only other real competitor to Apple in the smart device arena.
Has anyone here connected with Apple or anyone yet or is everyone just complying with the request and not sure what to do next?
I contacted an app developer and was told that it would cost "hundreds of thousands of dollars" to get some kind of app up and running. Clearly there is a communication breakdown somewhere.
I would like a copy of the letter as well. We also struggle with patient's not wanting to give us their email addresses.
Thanks in advance.

I believe Apple would have to support Centricity API's first (which they don't yet), and then you could enroll your organization. Check out this link for more info - https://register.apple.com/health-records
I think ultimately that will be the way to go. The intent can't possibly be to have every organization develop their own app.
