Anyone have any suggestions for Clinical decision support rules for a multi speciality practice? Care alerts/Protocols or built in VFE forms? I would like to hear what some of you are currently doing for this MU measure. Thanks Victoria
We use a lot of protocols in the system. The providers really dislike any form of pop-up and thus tend to ignore anything written on it. So, I usually show them information by lighting up buttons, highlighting text, and showing warnings in red bold text on the form and chart note using the protocols. The only downside to protocols is that they lack a lot of features. So, your protocols have to be pretty basic to work.
Whatever you choose, I would suggest making it global in place all your forms can reach. These things tend to change fairly often, and will start being a headache if you are updating a lot of forms with the same code change.
Yes you are right! How do you show warnings in chart note and forms by way of the protocol?
I use LISTPROTOCOLSHORT() and see if there is a particular item in the list (i.e. PNEUMOVAX) using match. You can do this to also light up buttons by checking for something like microalb in this list and making it yellow whenever it is found in the list.
