GE has certified the CPS 12 for MU 15 stage 2 using Kriptiq secure messaging for provider to provider transfer of care messageing. If you use other than Kriptiq secure messageing (in our case we use Medfusion secure messaging) which is not certified for provider to provider messaging, how to meet measure?
I am interested in finding out how others will handle transfer of care provider to provider messageing if not using Kriptiq secure messaging.
Thanks!
The only options for MU Core Measure 15 as of the publication of GE's MU help guide is Centricity Clinical Messenger (Kryptiq) or Qvera v2.0 or higher. We just got a quote back from GE for the clinical messenger and it is $550 per provider + $1530 for each database + $198 per provider for annual support. Which is ridiculous for something that is required for Meaningful Use. We are opting for the Qvera interface.
Have you got quote for Qvera inerface? Is it also from GE or someone else?
Thanks!
We are getting with them soon for a quote. Just got our quote from GE for the kryptiq messenger and realized how much money it would cost. Qvera is a third party group (www.qvera.com) that is certified with GE's Centricity and Meaningful Use Stage 2.
Thank you for the info.
Qvera is worse, one database I think comes to about 27k, cost goes down if you have more. We have four and it breaks out to 16k each plus annual maintenance for CCDA with reconciliation package.
Wow, that's ridiculous. For the Centricity Messenger, our total cost for 4 databases comes out to be about 70k and then the support annually. If it is billed by each provider, our company gets hit hard.
Ah, that is a lot of providers. So I guess it depends on that, our total is ~64k plus annual which is also based on database, so if you have a lot of providers qvera is cost effective if you have fewer, Clinical Messenger may be the way to go. Either way these numbers are outrageous.
What could they be doing to send this out that could require so much cost? This in conjunction with the CQR costs is making this a very expensive upgrade.
You can get a quote from either GE or Qvera for the Transitions of Care interface.
We've got Kryptiq Messaging already, but the Transitions of Care messaging workflows are pretty manual (and make faxing look good). That's why Qvera looks interesting.
While I hate to encourage opt-outs before we even start, keep in mind that the TOC measure has exclusions (providers in a shared EMR don't count) and by volume:
Any EP who transfers a patient to another setting or refers a patient to another provider less than 100 times during the EHR reporting period is excluded from all three measures.
That's a good point jamesedwards. I might research how many of our providers refer outside of our group 100 or more times.
I just learned that QIE v2.0 (Qvera Interface Engine) is required to access CQR Reporting 1.0 necessary for Meaningful Use reporting. So if we have QIE we should be good with provider to provider messaging?
This is confusing and I just wish GE project manager who is in charge of our upgrade knows....
Just jumping in to see if anyone has gotten on board with either Qvera or Kryptiq Clinical Messaging...how is it going? Are you joining a "HISP" or just utilizing it for a provider to provider purpose?
Am I understanding correctly that Kryptiq is a manual process?

We have been using the Kryptiq portal since 2008 and will use this for Measure 15 HOWEVER, GE has not contracted with Surescripts to list all the providers in the geographica area in the SureScripts directory in Messaging. They only contracted to list the GE customers who have the Kryptiq portal in the Directory. For this reason, in Los Angeles where there is low Centricity uptake, we only list 20 providers within 25 miles of our office in Santa Monica. There are > 7000 Surescripts subscribers but we have to call them up to find out their direct addresses. Not was described and hours working with Kryptiq to figure this out.
After a demo with them that is what I understand as well. That it will for sure be a manual process to get connected with other providers.
Is it working well though?
