For those who will do Menu Measure 3 for Stage 2, how are you planning on implementing this? We have a PACS system, and I was wondering if we could use the new ribbon bar to include a link to the PACS and coordinate the log in so it could open directly. I am not sure how you would get it to open directly to the patient's images though? Any ideas or thoughts on this measure?
In our case, we do it with a link to the accession number. The link looks something like this: https://mc-pacs.mayfieldneuro.com/loadStudy.jsp?user_name=AnonymousUser&password=&rsa=true&accession_number=1.2.392.200036.9125.2.186347155103.64743637045.1508101. This method works, though, if your images open in a browser. If you have another type of PACS viewer, I'm not sure how it would work.
What bothers me about what GE has done for this measure is that the PACS link has to be attached to a document type of Imaging Report, when it's not a report we're attaching--it's a link to an imaging study. We currently have the actual reports attached to Imaging Report documents and links attached to the PACS Link document type.
Thanks for the response! That gives us a direction to move in! Do you have the link at the bottom of each imaging report? If not, is there a reason that this can't be done?
I suppose it could be done that way if you're creating them manually. Our PACS system automatically sends an HL7 message to LinkLogic and the links are generated that way. Our reports are received separately and therefore are separate documents from the links.
I see. So there are 2 separate documents for the image. Are you on CPS 12? Are the reports picking this up for MU? If that's the case, then this seems like the path of least resistance.
We're on EMR 9.5 and moving to EMR 9.8 at the end of the month. The GE MU report will pick up our links as long as they are called Imaging Report. What we currently call Imaging Report (the real report, not the link) would not be picked up because they typically come in via a local hospital or imaging center interface. The only time there would be an attachment (which is what GE is looking for) would be if the patient is from outside outside our region and the report is scanned in. I guess we'll change the name of those to Imaging Report-Actual or something like that.
We were just talking, and since our Rads dictate the imaging report, we are thinking we would have our transcriptionists insert the link in the imaging report since the process is manual anyways. (sorry for the long run on sentence!) I wonder if this would work or be a feasible work flow..
That sounds like a good plan, except that the link could not be in the report itself since GE is looking for an attachment. After typing the report, the transcriptionist would need to need to highlight the document, click on Attach..Add Attachment..Ext. Ref., and put the link in there.
Ah, ok! Thank you so much for your advice and help!
