We have providers that cross cover for each other on the opposing database. The patients receive a PIN for their PCP's portal. Are they required to issue a secondary PIN for patients who visit the on call provider for emergent care in the opposing portal?
As an example: Mary Test sees Dr. Smith as her PCP and receives a PIN at Dr. Smith's office, the following week Dr. Smith is on vacation and Dr. Jones is covering for him. When Mary Test goes to see Dr. Jones for a sore throat Dr. Jones does not feel it appropriate to issue a PIN for his portal.
Providers are very concerned about patient's being confused by the separate portals and messages not be addressed appropriately.
Is it possible for us to exclude these patients seen by the on call provider's denominator?
