This is a hot topic and area of question for my providers (understandably)... they want to know if there is anything from "meaningless use" they can stop doing. 🙂
Do the MACRA/MIPS Advancing Care Information measures do away with previous MU measures*?
For example:
Vitals, Smoking Status, Imaging Results, Family Health Histories, etc.
*We likely won't stop doing these, but are wondering if they are required and/or will be tracked by GE and CMS going forward; the technical requirements aspect.
The opinion in our clinic is those things are not required for MU (ACI - 2017) but we will still want that information as part of the office visits or for the quality measures. We are playing it safe as CMS changes the rules within a given year, so we are keeping everything we did in 2016. Hopefully within 2017 "the transition year" we will learn more about MIPS.
Best of luck,
Good point!
