We just loaded 12.3.2 in our Test Database and when removing or stopping a medication we are getting the following message: ______ Pharmacy does not support "electronic cancellation requests." This pharmacy must be notified by phone or fax to ensure the eRx is cancelled.
This is every time ... do you know if there is a way to stop this if not ...what is the purpose. Positive our clinicians are not going to be happy with this one.
Thanks,
Judy
Hey are you guys part of the LA program? I'm curious because we have 12.3.1 in test, and on our weekly project call last week we were told they anticipate 12.3.2 being available in time for our 9/7 go-live. If it's GA now I'd like to ask them to update test now.
If the medication was electronically sent in the past, when it is removed it will send a cancellation notice to the pharmacy. If the pharmacy doesn't yet except cancellation messages you will receive that popup messages.
If a provider cancels a prescription and the patient has say 3 refills left, the pharmacy will cancel the remaining refills when they receive the cancellation message.
SP 2 is still in LA.
Brian
Brian,
So are we just getting that message because we are in Test ... and when in live that message will automatically go through. If not how do we make certain our pharmacy can receive these cancellation messages electronically. I know that our doctors are not going to call.
Thanks,
Judy
I suspect you are getting that message because your test environment is not connected to Surescripts network. That is the case in our office and we always have to remind ourselves there is certain functionality that can't be tested for that reason. While you may get that message on occasion, I suspect it would be rare in your production environment, because most pharmacies are connected to Surescripts these days.

Yes we are part of the LA...
Thanks,
Judy
Thanks. I hope it goes well so we can take it.
Providers hate this. the text translation makes it look as if the medication was prescribed, you have to look close to see a small print cancel in front on it. And as stated above, specialty practice prescriptions are being canceled before the 1 year expiration date because the PCP is reconciling the med list and removing the med just because the patient isn't "currently" taking it. We do see an option to turn off the cancel activity in the latest eScribe version so we will remove that activity. But, in doing this, a flag gets sent to the escribe manager's desktop every time a cancel is created in Centricity. This is horrible.
