Is it possible to write a filter in Crystal Reports to sort based upon the value of one obsterm while returning more than just that one obsterm?
Example: Show me data for obsterms 1 - 9 and sort by date on obsterm 3
Yes, but would probably need to know specifics.
You could sort based on WEIGHT, but also display on the detail line HEIGHT, AGE, SEX, ...
Okay. I'm using a formula to pull in a select group of ObsTerms:
IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-SOLD'
THEN 'Date Sold: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-WARR-EXP'
THEN 'Warranty Expiration: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-MISC1'
THEN 'Office Warranty Expiration: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-VENDOR'
THEN 'Vendor: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-MODEL'
THEN 'Model: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-SERIAL'
THEN 'Serial: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-STYLE'
THEN 'Style: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-SIDE'
THEN 'Side: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-BATTERY'
THEN 'Battery: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-STATUS'
THEN 'Status: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-PAYMENT'
THEN 'Payment: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-SOURCE'
THEN 'Source: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-EMPLOYEE'
THEN 'Employee: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
ELSE IF {OBSHEAD.NAME} = 'HAT-COMMENTS'
THEN 'Comments: ' + {OBS.OBSVALUE}
I want to display this formula, but sort it based upon the entry for the 'HAT-SOLD'.
Why not have two columns? First being your special formula field setting a value, and the second column being HAT-SOLD?
You could also group on HAT-SOLD (which will ask you sort order). Then just not print the header or footer related to that group.
Because that would be entirely too easy, and exactly what I should have done to begin with. *sigh* Thank you! Too close to the problem I guess.
