Hello,
We're currently running full backups for oracle nightly so our system is down for several hours at a time. In the past, we used RMAN for online backups but it got to the point where the ARC files were so massive and took so long to recover that when we did eventually have to restore our DB, it took days to restore it. So my question is, what have people been using for oracle backups as I've talked to Athena and all they can send me is info about the RMAN process?
It's been several years since I worked at OU but we used Commvault pretty successfully. Used it to back up our entire network in our Tulsa location. SQL/Oracle and files. Though we did a lot of VM snapshotting too. And I still used RMAN to refresh a report server.
Awesome, thanks David. I thought we could go the snapshotting route as well but our contract IT guy seemed to think that would be risky with oracle. We may look into that commvault.
