Every time we print a patient education handout it does not show up in the patients chart. How is this getting recorded for meaningful use? We made sure the check box "record to patients chart" was checking. Am I missing something???
What version of Centricity are you using?
OK, perhaps two issues here.
First, by checking that box, the handout should be recorded in the Chart. Perhaps your document view is set to a filter and Handout is not on the list?
Second, for Meaningful Use, those conventional handouts do not seem to count. The handout has to be 'intelligently chosen'. In other words, select a problem or med and then click the Patient Education button near the top right. This will link to (if any) show a listing of relevant handouts for the patient and record this in the patient records. [There is a table MU something in the EMR that stores all of these.]

We are on 12.0.3. We click on the problem first then the blue icon in the top right hand corner of the problem list. It then brings up a list of handouts associated to that specific dx. We select one, select the language and then click print. The handout prints, looks great...but it does not record or show anything in the chart. It did about 4 months ago, and it just stopped. I'm at a loss and GE was not a help when I called them.
I also have this problem. One of our practice director's prints out handouts for the doctor. The handout is documented in the chart for some doctors but not for others. This leads me to believe that this is a security settings issue. I've looked and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Does anyone have any thoughts?
