Does anyone report on providers who occasionally move around from one facility to another? I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to deal with that. When Dr. Jones, who usually works out of Facility A, goes to fill in at Facility B for a few days, they call our service desk to change their home location so their documents and orders fall under the correct location.
Now I'm trying to run reports for Meaningful Use, and Dr. Jones is showing up under Facility B, when his real home location is Facility A. I'm trying to figure out how the heck to link Dr. Jones's user record to Facility A and I'm at a loss.
USR.HOMELOCATION is the value that changes when you change home location in Adminstration. So that value is totally useless.
USR.CURRENTLOCATION is the location they've selected in the login dialog. So that's no good.
DoctorFacility.LocationId appears to be redundant with USR.HOMELOCATION.
DoctorFacility.OrgName is a free-text field, and isn't necessarily going to match anything in LOCREG.
So my question is... if you have providers who move around, how do you report on them relative to their actual home location?
We have our providers change the location of care when they log in at the other clinic so that the documents are created under the correct location of care where the pt was seen (and or whoever is rooming the pt as they generally start the update). The orders are then created correctly and sent to the correct referrals desktop and superbill is correct. We don't change the user's location unless they permanently transfer. The document should reflect it correctly. The document table has USRID and LOCOFCARE. USRID should be responsible provider for document and can be linked back to the user and still show the user's home location also. Not sure if that is what you are looking for or if it would work for you. We have a shared chart model here. We do have some instances now where we are starting to run into creating new locations as we have some that are permanently 1-2 days a week in another practice but want referrals and billing handled by their home office, not the one they are visiting etc.
