Our DB consists of using all CAPS in the Patient Registration fields for Name and Address. The Referring Providers table is also in ALL Caps.
We use the appropriate MEL Data Symbols, to pull in the required information, when we send letters to Referring Providers/Patients, however, as you would expect the data pulls in with the ALL CAPS format, which does not look very professional.
I am hoping that perhaps someone could offer code suggestions, that will allow this information to be converted to Upper/lower case text translation, within our letters.

We do the same thing in Registration with all CAPS and have the same issues with our letters. There are a few Mel options. You can find the Mel help in your Client file on your c-drive. CPS.help.chm.
This option capitalizes just the first initial.
{INITIALCAP(PATIENT.LASTNAME)} with last name of "SMITH"
returns
Smith
This option will make it all lowercase.
{tolower("TOLOWER")}
returns
tolower

Of course. I discovered the Mel utility Functions section and it has helped me so much.
