Just like Uber has turned regular drivers into taxis, is there a way to turn VFE-MEL experts into tutors for people like me who are so eager to learn, but have nowhere to turn? I would love to hear from anyone who is available to tutor periodically - as needed - for a reasonable rate.
I am interested and available. I am a retired Cardiologist who was responsible for our Centricity implementation. Over the last 4 years I have been a consultant. I have presented at CHUG about some very arcane issues of extracting information from Centricity using direct SQL interfaces. I have used Access as an interface tool to work out table relationships. Using these modeling approaches I have created a large set of Crystal Reports to tackle tasks impossible within Centricity. In addition to standard management/productivity reports, recently I prepared an analysis of patient flow within the clinic using appointment activity logs, contributing input to the document, and order timing. I enjoy teaching and have been struck by how little is available and how steep the learning curve is: where is the critical information to get started, the structure of Centricity, basic computer language requirements when dealing with MEL, how to overcome the limitations of MEL, avoiding the needless frustrations of available predefined queries, learning the overall data structure of Centricity, finding the information to approach querying the database, discovering the undocumented gotchas in MEL, learning to be more sensitive to the enduser than the problems of the solution, the necessary elements of SQL required to approach the database, the problems of integrating Crystal Reports into Centricity workflow, how to avoid creating user disasters, what are the best practices in responding the user issues. And the most recent mountain to climb, understanding how to deal with the issues of CQR, Meaningful Use, PQRS, user frustration and management financial fear. You can reach me at [email protected]. I would envision a set of WebEx sessions as the most efficient method of this education.
