Hi all,
Is anyone out there using Kryptiq's Family Management for the Patient Portal? We are in the process of developing our policies and procedures prior to implementation and want some feedback/ideas on what other organizations are doing with Family Management.
Are you allowing multiple Portal accounts to link to one chart? For example, mother and father want to be involved in their child's care. Both want their own separate portal accounts and want to link their child's chart to their account. If not, how are you explaining the policy to parents/caregivers?
Thanks for any feedback.
We are using family management. We have our age of emancipation set to 13 because in our state that is the age the child can request birth control without parental consent. We explain to our parents that the child can be linked until age 13 then the system will remove them because of medical privacy and they will need to set up their own account. We have not had a parent push for more yet, but we also have not had a child emancipated yet. We look to our physicians for support, but I think it will be a very touchy subject....
We are also linking husbands and wives if both come in and give PHI for each other and request to be linked to the same account. We explain that in the event of a divorce or change of heart, they would need to contact us to unlink the charts as it is not an automatic process.
We have family management activated as well. However, we are having an issue with RX Refill messages still showing the current meds for a patient over the emancipation age. I'm told that the emancipation age doesn't hide the current meds for the Rx refil message if the parent wants to send a message on behalf of the child.
Shouldn't the child become emancipated from the account once they reach age 13? If you run the emancipation report in the portal, it gives you a list that shows who will become emancipated and then you can emancipate them.
