Hi,
We are currently registering patients for the Kryptiq Patient Portal with the 'add from chart' workflow. I believe that with CQR that only patients with the PIN obs term will count for Meaningful Use. What are people doing to work around this? Specifically, is there an easy way to give existing patients the PIN, and how are you filling it out for new patients?
Thanks!

We ran into the same problem using the "add from chart" I built and Inquiry to pull all patients with and e-mail address that the Method of contact OBS is blank and I copy the e-mail back into the portal to make sure they are signed up. If yes, I open a Method of contact document select secure messaging and then populate the flowsheet PATPORTALPIN OBS with linked. It is a long process but other wise by using the "add from chart" (our staff like this) you miss out on a critical OBS.

Just wondering if it would be easier to just go into the chart and generate the PIN when you finish the "add from chart" process? Also, shouldn't GE do something about how they are counting these, like looking at the Method of contact = Secured messaging? Seems like they need to make adjustments as new features are added, such as 'add from chart' so a Pin isn't being generated.
I was just reviewing some documents on Kryptiq's support website and ran across this in their "Best Practice" document.
Best Practice Workflows for Patient Registration in SMPP 6.4
Patient Portal now has new and improved features to assist with patient registration on the portal.
General Information:
- There is now an Add From Chart feature in the Portal that allows staff users to register patients AND verify identify without a PIN number.
- Staff users perform this function from the portal but there is a new, limited role that permits this capability without allowing full admin access.
- This new workflow does eliminate the use of the “daisy chained” Method of Contact eForm. See detailed workflow steps below for best practices to address this.
- The new workflow actively supports MU2 compliance as the patient is counted (in GE’s reporting) the moment the chart is linked by the staff. MU 6.4/CPS 12 or EMR 9.8 will give credit using this workflow as PATPORTALPIN is no longer the sole indicator of portal enrollment.
OK, so which is correct? Do you have to have to have a PIN generated or not?!?
After talking with GE, it seems that CPS 12 keeps track of the registration in the MUActivityLog table. So, any patients registered after upgrading to version 12 will be counted. If a patient was registered by the 'from chart' method before CPS 12 then it won't count.
Edited for clarity.
Then why is Kryptiq indicating it will....appears the "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing"!
Oh. Sorry, I meant to write that if a patient was registered by the 'from chart' method before CPS 12 then it won't count.
OK, that makes more sense. Thanks!
