Our patient's PIN # is printing on the progress note. Therefore when we send the note for Release of Information purposes the pin number is given to whoever is requesting the records.
If the recipient has the patient's email address they can go and set up the portal access even if they are not the patient.
This leaves us open to potential breaches.
Can this feature be "turned off" so it does not print on the progress note/clinic visit?
Thanks
You will need to remove that observation term from the progress note (encounter form) so it doesn't pull forward. The PIN should only be put in letters where it can be printed out without patient identifying information. We have our instructions on how to register for the portal and the PATPORTALPIN obs term on that letter. Our text translation on the PIN generation form says in large print NOT to put out that document to give to the patient as it has patient identifiers on it.
As Dawn said, you can find the form where the PIN is showing and remove the the field from the form or you can remove the translation from that field so it doesn't print in the note.
