Hi CHUG Community,
I have tw questions. We are currently on COS 12.0.13 and SMPP 7.0.9. We are in the process of setting up a private hosted network at which time all our applications should be upgraded to the latest version. This is basically the reason that our upgrades have fallen behind.
1. In a very early version of SMPP when we received referral from a patient's PCP through direct messaging, the patient's name would appear in the message line or somewhere in the inbox information so it wasn't necessary to view every message to see who the patient was. We get a good number of referral documents via direct message and it is very time consuming to look through everyone to just check if the one we need is included. This has resorted in staff calling PCPs for referrals and often their staff also becoming frustrated having to duplicate their efforts as well. Does anyone know or have a better way to extract at least the patient's name from the referral/TOC documents to make this process more efficient?
We often receive messages from patients intended for a clinical staff person in the secretarial staff mailbox and visa versa. I have tried moving the message to the correct staff member's mailbox and trying to send it from the desktop as a flag. Both methods have failed. The only workflow we were able to implement is to save the message to the chart (EMR) and then go to the chart and send a flag to the correct person. This seems like a lot of clicking around to what is suppose to be an automated system. I'm hoping some savvy user has a better workflow.
