Is there a way to display the content of the handout that was generated in the chart?
As an example, when printing the stock Back Pain handout you only get the Internal Correspondence the shows "Printed Handout: - Back Pain".
I would like to be able to see the content of the "Back Pain" handout in the chart nore as well.
Thanks, Drew

The only way I can think of would be to print a handout with a button on a form dedicated to that handout and have it pull in a duplicate of the handout text/code as a text component. You would have to create a button and a text component for each handout you wanted to print. Formatting and embedded illustrations might be problematic also. If you updated a custom handout you would have to remember to update the text component also.
That's what I was afraid of.
I am trying to have a physician's post operative treatment protocol display in the chart for future reference when it is given out. We have them set up as handouts already but essentially have to print the handout and then scan it back into the system to have it display in the chart. This seems pretty silly to me 🙂
I have messed a little bit the "Protocols" section of the chart but I do not think this will be able to be specific enough for our needs.
You could just skip the handout section altogether and create a separate document, either with a form or text component and print the completed document.
Is there a way that you know of to print the document with an action button? I was under the impression that you must end the update then print correct?
I was trying to save a step.
There is in theory but I have never tried it, mldefs6 i believe has the document objects, there are some that hold the active document text, you would need to create a handout with a function that pulled in the text from that object, set the action button to print the handout.
Thanks for your help. I will try to contact him/her.
Hi! Joining in here. Has anyone accomplished this?
I too need to save the contents of handouts to the chart.
Thanks,
Rebecca B.
I was able to do something similar to what DavidShower describes above.
There are multiple check boxes that allow the user to select what handout that he/she wants to print. The translation of each checkbox contain a mirror of the Handout. This generates the output to the chart note. The print button at the bottom has the mel in the RunProcess field to print the proper handout based on the selection of the check boxes.
It works right now but I have only two selections on the form. We will see what happens as it grows as I really need more than 50 different selections for our post operative procedures.

So just so I understand you created a button to autoprint the handout in a VFE form, which also contains the data display boxes with the MEL for the handout?
Any help is appreciated.
Rebecca B.
I sent you a PM. You get it?
I did not. Let me check my filter to see if it was blocked.
Did that work for you?
Can you resend it sorry!
Our IT email admin had to add you to the safe senders list.
Thanks!
