This is a report we developed to show the average time to sign documents, sorted by responsible provider. Providers are listed alphabetically by first name, and you may want to change that. We never got around to it. This augments a separate report that shows unsigned documents on user desktops.
You can select the range when the report runs. You can also choose which document types to evaluate. The report shows the number of documents created, average time to sign, and max time to sign – all as a total and by document type.

This is based on the date the document was created which may be different from the clinical date. We did not exclude documents with attachments for this report. Once the report has run, you can double-click on any of the document types to drill down to the document/patient level for further analysis (for example, to determine if the lag is consistent with a vacation).
We run this one quarterly for a 90-day date range, and our policy is that providers have to keep their average sign time under 2 days. We chose the time after looking at baseline report data.
Hopefully, this helps someone out.
Edit: Updated to sort alphabetically by searchname (i.e., last name).
