The KB Release notes advise to copy the updated factory list then re-add your customizations to it. So, are you telling me that everyone using a custom immunization list is rebuilding it every month?! Is there not a change file with the updates listed on it so we can just update our custom lists like we would Meds or Probs?? How are other managing this?
same question. i've had an open case about this for quite some time, probably nearing a year and have not gotten much if any assistance/advice.
Last update I was told this (which made little or no sense to me):
The “codechgs.txt” has the CPT codes for orders which include immunization orders. The “med_chngs_current.txt” has medication changes which include vaccines.
Having said that, some of the changes in these two files may or may not be included in the Immunization Factory Custom List as they may just be new options that have been made available (for billing or clinical purposes) and not necessarily new requirements. So it depends.
Not quite the same thing but the KB updates often create immunization VFC codes that Vermont will reject, so we manually inspect the load_phvs_codes.dsv before applying. The same concept may work for your problem.
Steve
So how do you manage your custom list after each KB update? We do not want to use the Order part, so I'm thinking our best option is to simply edit our custom list on demand when users need a new NDC added??
I'll ask the guys doing our install if they can locate load_phvs_codes.dsv for me. Thanks!
We had a similar issue with our custom administered medications when we first went to CPS 12. Our network administrator made some changes so that now, when we do the KBU - all of the custom entries are in there and what I call the "factory medicaitons" are listed at the top and have to be removed. It's much easier to remove (about 70? entries) than to rebuild, but it's still strange that we have to do this each month. I checked with someone in another state who is on Centricity and she says she has to do the same thing every month. If you need more details about the exact changes our administrator made - please let me know (you may have your answer by now).
We are looking for suggestions too. We delete the Factory Immunizations Custom List and the Injection Custom Lists prior to applying the KB. Where is it documented which changes/updates/deletions are included with the Factory & Injection lists which are newly created when applying the KB (including NDC codes)? We like to use our own Custom Lists but want to make sure our coinciding entries have the most current information.
