I like to do my panicking early and get it out of the way. 🙂 Anybody have any thoughts on what the changeover to ICD-10 is going to be like next year? Are we going to have to double-code our reports in 9 and 10 to get the old records and the new ones, or are the old records going to be updated somehow, or what?
Actually, it's not until Oct 1, 2014, but still a good question.

Your current billing staff and doctors will need to take the classes to get them up to date with the new code sets. It could be that yes the clearinghouses will convert the codes for a small period of time, but it is better to have your office prepared for anything, hence 5010. I have a great Impact Assesement you could use to begin evaluating the readiness of your team. It touches on the action points you can email me directly and I will send it you way.
