Happy Friday everyone!!
I'm reaching out to see if anyone has come up with an immunization resolution GE form or otherwise that is making your providers happy. Here are a few things we are struggling with. Any help would be oh so much appreciated and might result in chocolate! 🙂
GE History view still doesn't display the combination vaccines?
Our Peds docs are up in arms about this and don't want to have to "settle". They are even happy with a scaled down version of the detailed history view but, I can't figure out how to print that for them (they also hand this to the parent's). Lastly, what do you do with the combinations with different VIS dates? Use the combo one on the CDC? Does that work for the registry? We hand them out individually but, will take any resolution that works.
How do you make it clear to the not so average nurse that Pentacel is under the Dtap section?
I'm not trying to be mean but not everyone graduated from Harvard.
Is there any way to control the layout on the form in a more logicial (provider wise at least) order?
Our nurses will deal with it if we can't but, is it solely based on the order in which you set them up?
Any help, or prayers, or positive thoughts, or voodoo, etc is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks in advance!
Enjoyed the humor in your question. 🙂
I'm on EMR but this should be similar if you're on CPS.
1. History View
It appears this can be edited through Setup - Settings - Chart - History Views. It looks like you may have to edit fndef-Immunization.txt and/or CCCQE-User-Edit-Immunization-Management-TFE.txt.
2. VIS dates
For HPV, the VIS dates are different for Gardasil and Cervarix.
I had to create 2 HPV categories for each to support the VIS dates.
(SPR 58776 and is fixed in EMR 9.9).
3. How do you make it clear to the not so average nurse that Pentacel is under the Dtap section?
No help here to provide. Just make them aware.
4. Edits
The HTML Immunization form is not editable. I know HTML and have asked.
Hope this helps, Jill
When you speak of the "GE History View" are you referring to the "Histories" link on the left-side of the chart and then "Immunization History View" from the dropdown menu?
If so, this can be edited in Administration under Chart -> History Views -> Enterprise -> Immunizations History View. It's a bit of a pain to do though because of the editing functionality within Centricity. I took the existing code for the current view and copied that out to Microsoft Word (I think GE states that you need to use 2007 or earlier) but if you don't have access to this, which I don't then I used my version 2013, but then I had to take my edited code and then copy it into Wordpad and save it temporarily somewhere easy to find. Close it and open it and then copy the edited code from Wordpad and then I could copy it into the Centricity History View editor.
Of course it takes a little knowledge of the code to be able to edit it.
Hello - We are peds only... I feel your frustration. We put our imm hx as the first "letter" in our list as we often print for the patient or "print" to the patient portal anyway. For us, it makes sense to view it there. I will email you what we are using, but I'm not sure how much different it is from your imm hx. We edited the history form in Word as suggested above. We changed the order of the listings to group childhood vaccines and adolescent vaccines. We put Cholera, Rabies, etc toward the bottom where we don't have to worry about them. However, if you never use them, you could always delete those rows. (In MS Word: Rt click, delete cells, delete row.) We also added "See DTaP, Hib, & IPV" under the Pentacel listing. That way, whenever they scroll to the Pentacel listing to look for dates, they will be reminded where to look in the appropriate section. This is also helpful for parents who aren't familiar with the vaccines. We also added lead results to the form. I will send it to you in WordPad and MS Word. I edit in MS Word, paste to WordPad, and then copy from WordPad and paste into letters in Centricity. If you use letters margins of 0.5 all around, it should leave room for your default header.
You can copy/paste it into your history views also by creating a new history view in administration. I edited the document slightly though to eliminate the additional second page heading and the final signature line at the bottom. If you don't follow, please call me. My contact info will be at the bottom of the email.
Thank you all so much! I am not great at coding but, having seeing Patty's example she sent to me, I can now do it (I'm a great thief!!)
I just wish there were a better way to make this work but, if I can fake it with the history views, maybe I can appease my providers until something better comes along or until they see the real thing.
Thanks again and HAPPY MONDAY!!!

I just saw your question about the VIS for Pentacel. We use the CDC VIS for Multi Pediatric Vaccines. The VIS date is 11/05/2015.
