We are on CPS 12. We need something that will help our physicians with the problem search. Right now when they are searching for a particular diagnosis, the system does not help them by warning them that they need to make sure to pick the code at the highest level. Also, it does not warn them when they need additional codes. For example, if the patient has diabetes with neurological complications, the system does not warn the provider that they need to also add the code for the specific neurological complication. We are a residency program and are trying to teach our residents how to deal with this. Is there a form or a function in CPS 12 that I am missing that helps with this?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rebecca Higdon
Rebecca,
I'm not sure if you were able to attend the GE State of the Union address yesterday, but Mr. Zimmerman relayed that in CPS12 Service Pack 8 there is significant updates to the Problem Search functionality. SP8 is expected to be available in Late January 2015. I have asked the same question to GE about requiring the provider to select the Problem at the highest level (require the 5 digit on the ICD code).
I don't know if this answers your question or not, but this is the information that GE has announced during the State of the Union address.
