My practice is currently using the ScanMate i940 for scanning all of older charts to convert to EMR. We experience a laundry list of problems with these scanners. One major is that through the course of the day as we scan hundreds of pages the scanner begins to malfunction. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendatons of a more industrial scanner that may fit our needs better.
you cant go wrong with one of these

Very important part to scanning is being able to use document seperator sheets as well (barcode seperator). i believe its Kofax Capture software that actually recognizes the seperator sheet. Not sure if its bundled with the scanner itself anymore. Good Luck
Thank you for your imput. We are still working on a seperator program. I heard Adobe Acrobat was good but, Centricity said they don't buy licensing for their network to support that program. So I haa meeting next week to discuss what we can use here. I cannot believe all the batched reports we get that then need to be printed and rescanned into the patients chart. It seems like such a waste. Thank you, Sarah
We use a combination of programs to separate existing PDF documents.
They work great for document separation. Depending on the situation you could use the appropriate program.
Cute PDF - Can print pages from one document to this queue and save as PDF
PDF Creator - Print multiple documents or pages to one queue to create a single PDF file
Each one has good output and are both open source(free).
So, I can take the document from Kryptic Document Management send it to one of those programs, seperate the batched reports and send it back to Kryptic to import to each patients chart?
It will not process the separation sheets, but you just tell it to print page x-xx and save them that way.
Alright I will have to look into that. Thanks again, Sarah
