We copied the EMR database in order to run reports at any time without slowing "live" users down. Now we want to order Crystal Reports to run on this copied database but we're wondering if it'll work. Our IT team is questioning whether or not this copied database will need it's own server to run CR. Does anyone have experience with this type of issue?
We copy our database to a report version every night. We just create another ODBC connection to the report database and change the database to this connection in the reports.

Thanks, JJordet. I'll pass this on to the IT Dept..
We use a separate server for our report database so that it is even more disconnected from the live CPS database. There are a few snags when setting up a restored copy of the database, but otherwise it works great.
I would be willing to field any questions your I.T. department face.
Good Luck!
Likewise here...separate server for the copied database, but same server running Crystal Reports.
