hi there,
this is a really random question but wondering how you are handling new hire trainings in your clinic? GE doesn't offer any handouts, and there are so many ways to accomplish 1 thing, I thought id ask all of you.
we don't really want to pay for the expensive CPT portal.
does anyone have basic walkthroughs they are willing to share?
thanks!!
We created our own in a power point using screen shots for a welcome package , then we have a 1 on 1 process that then progresses to a shadowing format
We do a full day of training in a classroom(empty office) setting going through each process for different jobs(clinical, billing and scheduling). Then followed by a position specific shadowing period in clinic or the department. Providers go through this too.
We use camtasia for video creation, we also post the video's on an intranet for retrieval later.
New hire training varies per clinic. While I deliver new hire training in groups or individually (onsite or remote), one area I advise not to skimp on is training. One of the best training programs I've been involved with includes the following:
Clinical Staff - 2.5 days of training in a classroom using a practice environment. Each lesson builds on the one prior. Lots of hands-on and practice with clinical scenarios that make sense. There is a final test at the end broken into 3 parts that the class must pass before getting their log in.
Business/Front Desk Staff: 1/2 day of training on basic EMR functionality, flags, etc. 10 question test at the end that they must past prior to getting their log in. Front desk staff do need EMR training because they are typically in there doing flags, phone notes, answering questions, etc.
Here's a webinar Lorie Richardson RN and I did this month regarding training:
I have built a CPS 12. reference guide for basic Centricity EMR functionality. I would be happy to share it if you think it might be helpful. It does not cover any specific workflows at all, just a very basic "this is how you do things in Centricity" kind of document.
Can you please provide me a copy of your document? My email is [email protected]. Thank you!
